Tirau Motor Inn is situated in a very picturesque tourist town in the South Waikato region of the North Island. Tirau is home to the famous iconic corrugated dog and sheep where tourists and non tourists love to take photos.
Tirau in Maori means "place of many cabbage trees." Tirau township boasts great cafes, interesting shops to browse in including New Zealand's well known fashion designer Trelise Cooper outlet shop.
The Tirau Motor Inn is an older style motel which has been recently refurbished, owned and run by Kiwi's where old fashioned customer service is still offered to all our guests.
We are ideally situated as we are a 15 minute drive from the famous Hobbiton Movie Set where Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies were filmed, a 45 minute drive to Rotorua or Tauranga. The Okoroire Hot Springs are an 8 minute drive away where you can bathe in beautiful thermal pools.
The Blue Springs 4.7 walkway is a 12 minute drive away. where you can walk through farmland along a crystal clear river.
